WHISTLER — World Cup champion skier Lindsey Vonn may be the only person in Canada grateful for Monday night's rain.
After a painful day of training, Vonn assured everyone she would race, although she wouldn't mind another day off.
"I heard the weather is supposed to be pretty bad, so hopefully that's true," Vonn said after training Monday. "I honestly was expecting it to be a little bit better than it was. ... But the course here is pretty bumpy; I was pretty shocked. I think this is the worst course for my shin. I just have to fight though it, do some therapy now and hope Mother Nature will give me another day off tomorrow."
The weather obliged Vonn and the women's downhill training was cancelled this morning. Unfortunately, that also meant the men's super-combined, in which Park City's Ted Ligety was supposed to race, was cancelled as well.
The men's captains were scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. to discuss rescheduling options.
