LOGAN — Utah State's basketball team got a dose of bad and good news Sunday after the Aggies returned from San Jose State when they won their 10th game in a row.
Sophomore forward Brady Jardine, who dove into a scrum for a loose ball in the second half of Saturday night's game and spent the remainder of the game on the sidelines with an ice pack held to his face, had X-rays taken when the team returned to Logan Sunday and, according to a source close to the team, suffered a fractured cheek bone.
That's the bad news.
The good news, the source said, is that despite three breaks in the bone, Jardine will not miss any games because of the injury. After being fitted for a protective mask, Jardine is expected to suit up and play Wednesday night in USU's big game against fellow WAC front-runner Louisiana Tech.
Surgery, if needed, will be done after the season is over.
Jardine has come on strong over the past few weeks, moving up Utah State's depth chart and is usually the first post player off the bench. In 12 WAC games, Jardine is averaging 8.3 points and 5.0 rebounds per game while shooting 65.2 percent from the floor.
