OGDEN — A Tremonton teen has died from injuries suffered in a Feb. 1 crash in Cache County that killed another man.
Michael B. Higley, 17, died Thursday at McKay-Dee Hospital Center in Ogden, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.
Higley was a passenger in a car being driven by Robert Watson on U.S. 89 in Sardine Canyon. Troopers said the car was struck head-on by a Ryder moving truck that also hit Robert L. Smith's oncoming car, killing the 54-year-old Wellsville, Cache County, man instantly.
Watson, 17, of Garland, Box Elder County, remained hospitalized Thursday at Intermountain Medical Center, in critical condition.
The driver of the Ryder truck, Jason Hernandez of Tooele, may have fallen asleep at the wheel, troopers said, touching off the crash. Hernandez, 36, could face criminal charges; however, the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
