PARK CITY — Deer Valley Resort received a formal congratulations from the Utah State Senate for being named the No. 1 overall resort in North America by the readers of Ski Magazine three years in a row. Deer Valley Resort President and General Manager Bob Wheaton was recognized on the Senate floor today and presented with a certificate signed by Utah Senate President Michael Waddoups.
"I am happy to accept this honor on behalf of the Resort," says Wheaton. "We thank the state for all of its support of the tourism industry. It is truly an honor that we don't underestimate for the readers of SKI Magazine to choose Deer Valley Resort as the No. 1 resort when so many other North American resorts are also providing great ski vacation experiences. This recognition reflects the efforts of our entire Deer Valley staff who have a commitment to excellence in everything they do. That's what makes Deer Valley the best ski resort in North America." The resort has won the award three years in a row. Remarkably, in the past nine years, Deer Valley's rating hasn't dipped lower than third, with a No. 2 ranking in 2002; a No. 1 ranking in 2003; a No. 3 rating in 2004; a No. 2 ranking in 2005; another No. 1 ranking in 2006, a No. 2 ranking in 2007, a No. 1 ranking in 2008, 2009 and now for the current 2010 season.
