Man charged in buttocks-stabbing

SALT LAKE CITY — A Salt Lake man was charged with aggravated assault after he allegedly stabbed another man in the buttocks.

The victim and a woman were helping his niece move into an apartment near 200 E. 2100 South last week when he and the 49-year-old defendant began to argue, and the defendant stabbed the victim in the left side of his buttocks with a knife, according to charges filed Wednesday in 3rd District Court.

Charges state the victim proceeded to punch the defendant in the face, knocking him down.

Officers arrived on the scene, and when the defendant answered the door, he immediately began to retreat and resist an officer's attempt to detain him. The defendant stopped resisting when officers brought out a Taser, but after he was handcuffed, he tried to head-butt an officer, the charges state.

The defendant later said that "if he did stab (the victim), he got what he deserved," according to court documents.

He was charged with assault by a prisoner and aggravated assault, both third-degree felonies; assault against a police officer, a class A misdemeanor; and interference with an arresting officer, a class B misdemeanor.
