MAGNA — A woman accused of having sex with her juvenile neighbor from the time he was 12 until he was 16 has been arrested and charged.

Adorabelle Bonifacio, 45, was charged in 3rd District Court with rape of a child and sodomy upon a child, both first-degree felonies; and unlawful sexual activity with a minor and unlawful sexual conduct with a 16-year-old, both third-degree felonies.

From October 2004 until April 30, 2009, Bonifacio "had sexual intercourse at her house," near 7200 West and 3800 South, with the victim, according to the charges. Prosecutors say the illegal activity happened on average once a month.

Bonifacio is married and has two children, one of whom was the victim's age, said Unified Police Lt. Don Hutson. Bonifacio and her family reportedly moved recently to West Valley City, he said. The victim's family knew Bonifacio, Hutson said.

Investigators started looking into the alleged abuse after several people believed something was going on, stepped forward and called police, he said.

Detectives arrested Bonifacio Wednesday. Hutson said she had not been "entirely cooperative" with investigators.
