Bennett is king of pork
While Newt Gingrich probably did not mean to be funny in his endorsement of Sen. Bob Bennett, what he said was absolutely hilarious. Contrary to Gingrich's assertions that Bennett is conservative, he has the dubious distinction of making the Senate's Top 10 RINO (Republican in name only) list. He's also made the infamous King of Pork list (by Citizens Against Government Waste).
As to fighting the Obama stimulus package, Bennett negotiated the initial agreement, which included a 100 percent increase of Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) banking loans. CRA loans significantly contributed to the mortgage meltdown and our current recession. Then there's his effort to be Y2K czar, which cost taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars unnecessarily.
And his latest fiasco? The $5 million DVD earmark stealing monies from the military operations budget to encourage Utah National Guard members to re-enlist when the Guard was above staffing levels.
