WEST JORDAN — Bingham High junior defensive lineman Moses Kaumatule and Hunter offensive lineman Ului Lapuaho committed to sign with BYU as part of the Cougar class of 2011 on Monday

Kaumatule and his family visited with Bronco Mendenhall on Monday, according to his high school coach Dave Peck.

According to Hunter coach Dustin Pearce, Lapuaho, who is 6-6, 275 pounds, made his commitment Friday.

Pearce said Lapuaho reminds him of former BYU lineman Ray Fienga. "He doesn't have Ray's upper body strength right now, but he has great legs. He's got a motor on him and there's a nasty part to him. We played him at tackle and guard on the offensive line and he also played defensive end. He's been a lifelong BYU fan and always wanted to play for the Cougars. He is fully aware that now he's committed to BYU, even at this early date, his recruiting is over. He doesn't like coaches calling him."

Lapuaho earned first-team all region honors for Hunter.

Kaumatule, 6-1, 235 pounds, had 49 tackles and 5.5 sacks this past year for Bingham and had seven tackles and a sack in the state championship game against Davis.

He is the third junior at Bingham to commit to BYU. Others include running back Mano Pikula and defensive end Baker Pritchard. The Cougars also have a commitment from Pleasant Grove middle linebacker Austin Heder.
