CRAZY HEART — ★★★ — Oscar nominee Jeff Bridges is even likable as this broken-down wreck of a man. Running time: 112 minutes; R (profanity, vulgarity, sex, violence, brief drugs, slurs, brief gore)

DEAR JOHN — ★★ — There are the customary Nicholas Sparks plot twists and tragedies, which this story doesn't need. Running time: 107 minutes; PG-13 (violence, sex, profanity, brief gore, vulgarity, slurs)

FROM PARIS WITH LOVE — ★½ — Thriller starring John Travolta as a spy trying to stop a terrorist attack. Running time: 92 minutes; R (violence, gore, drugs, profanity, brief sex)

FROZEN — ★½ — Most of this dull, stranded-skiers thriller consists of petty bickering between the characters. Running time: 93 minutes; R (violence, profanity, gore, vulgarity, slurs, brief drugs)
