PROVO — A Payson man was arrested Saturday after police said he enticed a 14-year-old girl over the Internet and then had sex with her in his car in the presence of his 11-year-old autistic son.

The girl's parents noticed that she was missing Saturday and that their front door was ajar shortly after midnight, police said. They went out to look for her and saw a vehicle with loud music playing near their house in the area of 2600 W. Center St. The parents found their daughter inside and notified police.

According to police, Christopher Boyer, 31, made contact with the girl online about two months ago and kept in touch through text messages and phone calls, finally arranging a meeting.

"(Boyer said) he believed he was meeting an 18-year-old," Provo Police Capt. Cliff Argyle said.

However, the girl told police she had told Boyer she was 14 during an Internet chat, according to an affidavit filed in 4th District Court.

When they met Saturday, Boyer and the girl got in the back seat of the car, while his son remained in the front. Boyer then "forced the juvenile female to engage in various unlawful sexual activity," police said.

Police notified the state Division of Child and Family Services, which released the 11-year-old boy to his grandmother.

Argyle said Boyer did not explain why he had brought his son, other than to say he is the boy's sole caretaker.

Boyer was booked into the Utah County Jail for investigation of object rape and forcible sodomy, both first-degree felonies; enticing a minor on the Internet, a second-degree felony; and lewdness with a child, a class A misdemeanor. He is being held on $25,000 bail.
