PROVO Dixon Middle School administration plans to announce the vote tally on the school's dress code proposal today.
Parents of incoming seventh- and eighth-graders voted on the proposed school policy during the past two weeks.
The proposed dress code requires students to wear collared shirts, but they can wear a plain T-shirt underneath for the layered look. They can wear khaki, brown, green, navy or black pants.
Shorts or skirts below the knee are allowed. No logos or decals are permitted. Earrings are the only piercings allowed, but other safe, moderate jewelry is OK.
Dixon Middle principal Rosanna Ungerman said the dress-code committee counted the votes Wednesday afternoon. She plans to meet with Provo School District superintendent Randall J. Merrill today to review the issue before making a public announcement.
