The AFL named Utah Blaze quarterback Joe Germaine as the league player of the week after he led the team to a 67-50 win over Kansas City last week.
Germaine, a former Rose Bowl MVP when he played for Ohio State, completed 24 of 30 passes for 337 yards and eight touchdowns. He also scrambled for a 9-yard touchdown run in leading the Blaze to their first win of the season.
"Joe has been a true leader on and off the field," Blaze coach Danny White said. "He has been everything that we expected him to be and is truly deserving of this recognition."
So far this season, Germaine has completed 272-of-395 passes (68.9%) for a league-leading 3,148 yards and 64 touchdowns.
