A freelance TV producer who was arrested last June and charged with possessing child pornography pleaded guilty Monday to a charge in federal court.
Kevin Stewart McMahan, 50, appeared in U.S. District Court to plead guilty to one count of possession of child pornography. He faces up to 10 years in federal prison when sentenced Aug. 25.
In exchange for his plea, prosecutors will dismiss one count of transportation of child pornography.
McMahan was arrested at the Salt Lake City International Airport while trying to board a flight to California after police say they found hundreds of images of child pornography in his luggage, including some from children as young as 8 months old.
The images were discovered after airport security found a lighter in his carry-on bag, which resulted in a search.
McMahan was in Salt Lake City to cover the NBA playoffs for ESPN and ABC.
