A weeklong camp in Utah's Manti-LaSal National Forest hopes to get high school students excited about careers and academic study in science, natural resources and agriculture.

Nature High Summer Camp, which runs from July 14-19, will be held at the historic Great Basin Environmental Education Center in Ephraim.

Camp attendees will study forest ecology, learn how to take soil and water samples and find out how to evaluate ecosystem health.

Students will have the opportunity to get first-hand experience in the tasks performed by natural resource agencies and obtain information about the variety of career choices available in the field. A tour of nearby Snow College to gain insight on college life is also part of the week's activities.

Nature High Summer Camp is open to all Utah high school students in good academic standing. Registration is $50 and includes meals, lodging and supplies. The application deadline is May 23.

Additional information and application form are available at www.naturehighcamp.com or contact Cindy Ledbetter at the Bureau of Land Management Salt Lake City field office at 801-977-4377 or cindy_ledbetter@blm.gov.
