Matt Guerrier (2-1) earned the victory with two scoreless innings in relief. Joe Nathan picked up the save, his 11th in as many attempts, with a scoreless ninth to give the Twins a sweep of this homestand of five intradivision games.

ANGELS 6, ORIOLES 5: At Anaheim, Calif., Gary Matthews Jr. and Torii Hunter homered in the first inning and Los Angeles beat Baltimore despite a poor outing by still-unbeaten Joe Saunders. Saunders (6-0) threw 85 pitches over five innings in the shortest of his seven starts. The left-hander allowed four runs and a career-high 12 hits, struck out one and walked none. Saunders became the third pitcher in Angels history to start a season 6-0 or better, joining teammate Jered Weaver (9-0 in 2006) and Aaron Sele (7-0 in 2004). Ervin Santana gets a chance to join that list on Monday night at Kansas City

Steve Trachsel (1-4) lost his fourth straight decision, giving up six runs and seven hits in three-plus innings, the second straight start in which the right-hander failed to make it through the fourth inning.

BLUE JAYS 4, WHITE SOX 3: At Toronto, Roy Halladay won for the first time in four starts, Matt Stairs scored twice and drove in two runs and Toronto handed Chicago its season-high fifth straight loss. Halladay (3-4) had thrown complete games in his previous four starts, but lost the last three. He lasted 7 1/3 innings in this one, giving up three runs — one earned — and three hits. Halladay walked none and struck out seven. Toronto has won a season-high four straight after losing eight of nine.

Jose Contreras pitched a complete game but took the loss for Chicago, giving up four runs and six hits. He walked none and struck out five. Contreras (2-3) has not won back-to-back starts since Sept. 19, 2007.

ROYALS 2, INDIANS 0: At Cleveland, Gil Meche pitched seven shutout innings, a throwing error by third baseman Casey Blake broke a scoreless tie and Kansas City beat Cleveland. Miguel Olivo added a solo homer in the ninth for the Royals, who outscored the Indians 6-2 in sweeping the two-game series. Friday night's game was rained out.

Blake's error made a loser of Aaron Laffey (0-2), who didn't allow a hit until Olivo singled with two outs in the fifth. After John Buck walked, Tony Pena Jr. hit what should have been an inning-ending grounder to Blake, who ranged to his left to field the ball. However, his throw to second was high and wide of the bag, sailing into right field and allowing Olivo to score.
