NASHVILLE The Salt Lake Bees dropped their third straight game, as the Nashville Sounds claimed a 5-1 win on Sunday afternoon.
Four Nashville pitchers combined on a six-hitter with 11 strikeouts, as the Bees will suffer their first series loss of the season. Overall, the Bees are 24-5.
Russell Branyan belted a solo homer in the second to put the Sounds ahead and Adam Heether delivered a three-run double off Kasey Olenberger (1-2) in the fourth.
Dee Brown went 3-for-3 with a solo home run in the fifth inning that accounted for the Bees' only run of the game. Bobby Wilson, Adam Pavkovich and Gary Patchett each had a hit with Pavkovich and Patchett recording doubles. Brad Coon went 0-for-4 to snap his 26 game on-base streak.
The Bees and Sounds play again today. First pitch is at 9:30 a.m. MDT.
The Bees return to Franklin-Covey Field on Tuesday for an eight-game homestand against Albuquerque and Round Rock.
BEELINES: The Los Angeles Angels have recalled infielder Sean Rodriguez from Salt Lake to replaces Chone Figgins, who strained his right hamstring in Saturday's win over Baltimore. Rodriguez, 22, made his major league debut on April 19, hitting .250 for the Angels against Seattle. The Miami, Fla., native is hittting .250 in 21 games with 12 RBI, six doubles and four home runs for Salt Lake this season.
