OREM Les Campbell, a recently retired member of the Orem City Council, has made available a portion of his handcrafted woodcarvings for sale, with proceeds going to the Orem Public Library.
Silent auction bids for the hand-carved and turned wood items, including baskets, walking sticks, spoons, eggs and tops, will be taken at the library until May 24 at 6 p.m.
After eight years on the Orem City Council, Campbell has turned his full attention to woodworking and to his collection of more than 1,300 species of wood, which he acquires from around the world. Items available for purchase come from a variety of tree species from more than a dozen countries in North and South America, Africa, Australia, Europe and Asia; each item is unique.
