Science needs the 'what ifs'

Apparently too few people actually saw the documentary "Expelled," and those who did totally missed the point.

I don't normally go to documentaries. I don't think they are ever done very well. So I was not surprised to read the review stating that it was amateurish. But despite the review, I went. It was superficially about intelligent design. But the meaning of the documentary was some questions are not being allowed to be asked.

When I was in high school science class we were always asking, "Yeah, but what if ... " Apparently that question is not allowed in academia anymore. If the "Yeah, but what if ... ." questions are not being allowed anymore, then science will stagnate.
