A 27-year-old Salem man racked up a lengthy list of charges Thursday when he allegedly attempted to evade police in a stolen vehicle.
According to a police affidavit, a Utah County sheriff's officer came across a car on state Route 6 that listed its license plates as stolen. When the officer tried to stop the car, the driver took off at speeds exceeding 90 mph.
The chase led to Sanpete County where Utah Highway Patrol officers stopped the car with spiked strips. The man then fled on foot over a fence and up a hill. He was eventually captured by a UHP trooper.
The man allegedly admitted to police the car was stolen and that prior to capture, he ingested a bag of meth.
The man was booked into Utah County Jail on 15 charges, including possession of a stolen vehicle, reckless endangerment, possession of meth, evading police and providing false information to an officer.
