PAYSON — A 14-year-old boy was stuck and killed while riding his scooter Tuesday night; police are saying no one is to blame for the accident.

Bo Wilson and one of his friends were riding scooters in the vicinity of 9600 South and 4800 West shortly after 9 p.m. Tuesday, said Sgt. Spencer Cannon of Utah County Sheriff's Office. Around that time, a 20-year-old man driving the same direction approached the two from behind and struck Wilson.

"The driver of the car didn't even see Bo and his friend," Cannon said.

After the driver realized he struck something, he got out of the car and immediately started administering CPR to Wilson, with whom he was previously acquainted. Cannon said Wilson's parents, who lived nearby, came quickly to the scene. Emergency medical technicians also arrived, scooped Wilson up and rushed him to Mountain View Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Attempts to contact Wilson's parents, Butch and Jennifer, were unsuccessful.

Cannon said it appears no one is a fault and the situation is just an unfortunate accident. The driver was going the speed limit and he later tested negative for drug use.

"I don't think there's anything he could have done," Cannon said. "It was just a tragic combination of events that led to what happened."

Cannon also said people frequently ride bikes and scooters along the side of that road.

Cannon said Wilson's parents are obviously grief stricken, but they've been receiving tremendous amounts of support from extended family and the local community.

"You don't ever get over the loss of a child," Cannon said. "But they're doing the things families need to do."
