A family dog was killed in a house fire in Salt Lake City Monday.
Just before 10 a.m. crews were called to a fully-involved house fire near 900 South and 500 East. They arrived to find heavy smoke coming out of the house and the first floor engulfed, said Salt Lake Fire Chief Denny McKone.
The two adults and four children who live in the house were not home at the time of the fire, but a family dog was trapped and killed.
Damage was estimated at $90,000. The cause of the fire was still under investigation Monday afternoon.
