Last year, Hesther Rippy of Lehi received a $2,500 grant for her nonprofit literacy center from L'Oreal. She won the prize as a result of being nominated by one of her friends as a "Woman of Worth." This year, L'Oreal has doubled the gift. This year 10 "Women of Worth" will receive a $5,000 grant for their favorite charity, as well as having L'Oreal give a gift in their name to cancer research.
L'Oreal is accepting nominations at www.womenofworth.com through June 16. Later, in the fall, the public may visit the Web site to vote for their favorite "Woman of Worth." The one national winner will get a $25,000 grant for the nonprofit of her choice.
Rippy told the Deseret News that the Lehi-Rippy Literacy Center is currently using the L'Oreal grant for supplies.
