After the election, Monnahan will ask the state party to close the hole in the bylaws.

Monnahan also wants to amend a bylaw that declares the list of delegates to be public 14 days after the caucuses. DeGaston used that rule so she could check for delegate stacking in her race.

Meanwhile, concerns among delegates that one of the candidates was polling the race between incumbent Rep. Mike Morley, R-Spanish Fork, and challenger Chance Williams turned out to be right and wrong.

RRJ Consulting of Holladay, the firm of lobbyist Rob Jolley, did poll the race, but not on behalf of either candidate, and the company declined to share the results. Jolley has polled convention races for years on behalf of his clients who want an early indication of how a race will turn.

Nine Senate and House races will be contested Saturday morning. If a candidate wins 60 percent of the vote, he or she advances to the general election. If neither does, two advance to a primary in June.

Delegates kick off the voting at 8 a.m.
