Since most people in Utah County won't be seeing the inside of the Utah County Jail, here are a few jail facts:
• Current size: approximately 165,700 square feet
• Completed size: approximately 246,000 square feet
• Current beds: 800
• Completed beds: 1,200
• Inmate employees: garden, 10; laundry, 6; kitchen, 29
• Costs to the county: $61 per day per inmate
• The sheriff will add 36 deputies to staff the new section.
• Inmates have to pay for a portion of their stay.
