Real Salt Lake expecting a tough test at Toronto

TORONTO — A week after its most convincing win in franchise history, Real Salt Lake faces a much different task in Canada today.

Its opponent, 2007 expansion team Toronto FC, may not seem as daunting as D.C. United last week, but today is the home-opener for Toronto and a rocking sell-out is expected at BMO Field.

"(Last year) it was so loud down there you couldn't really think to yourself let alone get direction out to your players," RSL coach Jason Kreis said about last September's 0-0 draw at Toronto. "That's why it's important we have a very good tactical game plan."

Toronto sold out every game last year, and after the club's first victory of the season at the L.A. Galaxy last week, its raucous supporters should be even more motivated to spur their team onto a two-game winning streak.

Following last week's 4-0 win, that's precisely what RSL (1-1-1, 4 points) is hoping to get out of today's 10:30 a.m. (MDT) match as

well. It will be televised tape-delayed on KSL at 2 p.m.

"I think we just want to carry where we left on Saturday and take it to Toronto and hopefully come back with a good result, and try and get our second win as soon as possible," said Real striker Kenny Deuchar.

Even though the Scottish striker didn't score last week, missing a golden breakaway opportunity, he was a pest for D.C.'s defense — which is exactly what he set out to do.

"The way I play is a bit different. I try and be a bit of a nuisance and try and make sure the defenders are worried about me, and I think I did a good job on Saturday," said Deuchar. "I didn't get on the score sheet, but hopefully I helped my teammates ... and we won the game comfortably in the end."

Toronto FC (1-2-0, 3 points) won the season series last year, complementing its draw at home with a 2-1 win at Rice-Eccles Stadium on the Fourth of July. Former RSL striker Jeff Cunningham, perhaps the most enigmatic player in team history, opened the scoring for Toronto in the 19th minute — and not surprisingly didn't shy away from celebrating in front of RSL's bench just six weeks after being traded away.
