Tips from acquaintances of a West Valley man whose image was caught on a bank surveillance camera led to his arrest Friday in Bountiful.

Salt Lake County sheriff's deputies were tipped to the identity and location of Tyson James, 29, wanted in connection with a Monday robbery at Transwest Credit Union in Magna. At the time of notification, the suspect was receiving medical care at Bountiful's Lakeview Hospital. Deputies staked-out the facility, and made an arrest as the man was leaving the hospital.

Sgt. Kris Ownby from the Salt Lake County sheriff's department said they received multiple tips from friends and family of the suspect who recognized him from video surveillance footage run on local TV news broadcasts. The man in the video can be seen eating a complimentary sucker as he waited in line before he pulled a gun from his waistband and demanded cash.

Ownby said a large amount of cash was recovered and a gun was obtained "from a source other than the suspect" that appears to be the one used in the robbery that occurred Monday at the Transwest branch at 9024 W. 2700 South.

James was booked into the Salt Lake County jail Friday on investigation of aggravated robbery.
