OGDEN — A construction worker died after falling off a bridge while working Thursday in Weber Canyon.

Antonio Contreras-Martinez, 40, fell more than 50 feet to his death just before 11 a.m., said Weber County Sheriff's Lt. Philip Howell.

The man, an employee of Wadsworth Brothers Construction, was working on a bridge over some railroad tracks near Interstate 84, Howell said. Contreras-Martinez of Salt Lake City was constructing a platform underneath the bridge when he fell.

"We're not sure if something broke and he fell, or if he lost his balance," Howell said.

The man suffered massive head injuries and died at the scene, police said.
