Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. will spend the next few weeks away from the office recovering from successful shoulder surgery, spokeswoman Lisa Roskelley said Thursday.
Huntsman returned to the Governor's Mansion Wednesday after his latest operation to repair his rotator cuff. He underwent a similar procedure last summer but went back to work too quickly because of severe fires in the state.
"We're not doing that this time," Roskelley said, promising the governor will be more committed to following his doctor's orders, including wearing a sling for several weeks. "We're keeping him in the mansion. We need him to recover."
Huntsman injured his shoulder lifting weights, Dr. David Petron, a University of Utah orthopedic and sports medicine specialist, has said, and suffered a torn rotator cuff likely because of overuse.
