Native American business leaders are founding a Utah Native American Chamber of Commerce.
The mission of the chamber is to develop new business leaders and to be an advocate for self-reliance and self-sufficiency in the Native American business community, on and off reservations, according to a news release.
"The unveiling of Utah Native American Chamber of Commerce is an historic event. We are one of a few Native American Chambers of Commerce of its kind in the United States," said chamber president Cal Nez.
A ceremony to celebrate the founding of the chamber is scheduled for Tuesday at the Zions Bank Building in downtown Salt Lake City. Gov. Jon M. Huntsman Jr. has been invited to attend, along with various other government and business leaders.
