EARTH DAY EVENT

Ogden Nature Center will host its annual Earth Day Celebration on Saturday. Earth Day is a day of education, celebration and action.

Admission is only $1 per person, and those who ride the bus, bike, or walk will receive free admission.

Highlights include more than 30 earth-friendly exhibitors, a rock climbing wall, a display of birds of prey and other native wildlife all day at the amphitheater, astronomy activities, kids' crafts and guided nature walks.

Wild-bird presentations will start every half-hour from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Bird species native to Utah will include owls, hawks and eagles.

Earth Day events will be held at the Ogden Nature Center, 966 W. 12th Street in Ogden.

EAST CANYON WORK

The south end of East Canyon State Park is closed for summer beginning April 25 for the final phase of park renovation. New facilities are expected to be completed by fall. Camping and day-use access at the northern end of the park remain open and include four yurts and 33 campsites with full hook-ups.

When complete, Big Rock Campground will host improved primitive restrooms and 35 paved campsites each with a shelter, table, fire pit and grill. The Rivers Edge Group-Use Area will offer paved parking, improved primitive restrooms, a large group-use shelter, and tables.

This area will be available by reservation only.

FUN RUN PLANNED

The 6th annual Fly With the Flock fun run, sponsored by the Ogden Nature Center, will be held May 3.

5K race and 2.5K kids run will start at 8 a.m. There will be a pancake breakfast following the race.

Registration fees are $18 for adults and $12 for children. After April 25, late registration fees are $22 for adults and $15 for kids.

Last-minute registration will be held between 6:30 and 7:30 a.m. The 5K course is two laps winding through 152 acres on dirt trails. Walkers will not be timed for medals, but are welcome to participate.
