WEST JORDAN The Salt Lake County District Attorney's office is proposing a settlement to charges filed against Scott Martin Weisser, 52, who is accused of first-degree felony attempted rape and class B misdemeanor assault for events alleged to have taken place in his home in March.
The DA was not prepared to present the deal to 3rd District Judge Stephen Roth at a Tuesday preliminary hearing, so Weisser, who has been in custody for a month, was released and will be under the supervision of pretrial services until his next court appearance, scheduled for May 1.
Weisser was reported to be a pastor of First Baptist Church of Salt Lake at the time of his arrest and has reportedly resigned that position.
