BASEBALL: Consecutive doubles and a two-run homer by Washington offset BYU's seven-inning lead Thursday night as the Cougars lost to the Huskies, 5-1.

Kyle Conley's home run and doubles by Bradley Boyer and Troy Scott preceded a two-run homer by Ty Rasmussen in the five-run eighth inning. Those hits erased the 1-0 lead shutout Jordan Muir had going for the Cougars.

On Friday night, Kyle Conley hit a pair of home runs to help give 23-9 Washington a 12-4 victory over 14-20 BYU. Dan Vargas had a two-run homer for the Cougars.

MEN'S TENNIS: The Cougars (14-10) fell 4-0 to a tough New Mexico team on Friday. On Thursday, the Cougars pulled out a 4-3 win over San Diego State after freshmen Thomas Shubert, Daniel Hwang and A.J. Young won singles matches.

SOFTBALL: In an eight-inning ballgame at San Diego, the Cougars blanked San Diego State on Wednesday, 2-0. On Friday, BYU (27-4, 4-2) split a doubleheader against UNLV, as the Cougars won 11-5 before losing 5-1.

MEN'S SOCCER: The Cougars will face the RSL Reserves for a friendly match on Monday. Instead of paying to get in, people will be required to bring a pair of soccer cleats, which will be donated to children in Fiji.

WOMEN'S TENNIS: Just one day after suffering its first MWC loss, the BYU women's tennis team (13-10, 5-2) dropped a 4-3 match to New Mexico in Albuquerque.

TRACK & FIELD: Seven athletes on the BYU women's track and field team finished in first place at the Tom Botts Invitational in Columbia, Mo., on Saturday.

Winners included: Stacy Slight (1,500 meters, 4:40.38): Angela Petersen (3,000-meter steeplechase, 11:05.00); Mindy Robins (100-meter hurdles, 14.04); Nicole Rasmussen (400-meter hurdles, 1:02.45); Kindy Longmore (200 meters, 25.33); Ashley Payne (high hump, 5-05.00); and Madara Dzalbe (triple jump, 38-06.75).

For the No. 8 men's team, three Cougar pole vaulters swept the top-three spots. Matt Weirich won with a jump of 17-0.75, junior Whitney Neves and sophomore Chris Little took second and third, respectively, with vaults of 16-6.75.

Utah

MEN'S TENNIS: Utah had a good week at BYU's indoor facility last week, edging BYU 4-3 on Saturday after beating UNLV 4-3 on Friday and TCU 4-3 on Thursday.

The Mountain West Conference named Utah's Zach Ganger and Miron Mann as co-Men's Players of the Week. It was Ganger's third time earning the award and Mann's first time.

WOMEN'S TENNIS: The Utes dropped a 4-3 decision against New Mexico on Friday at Albuquerque.
