EMC plans to purchase Iomega for about $213 million

EMC Corp., based in Massachusetts, said this week that it will acquire Iomega Corp., a San Diego-based company with 125 employees in Roy.

The deal is for $3.85 per outstanding share, or about $213 million.

Iomega provides data storage and network security products. Its most famous product line is the Zip line of drives and disks. When the acquisition is completed, Iomega will be the core of EMC's new consumer and small-business products division that also includes some EMC software products.
