A man who was allegedly making methamphetamine in a house he shared with his 71-year-old mother was arrested by Salt Lake City police Monday.

A search warrant was served about 9 p.m. near 1100 East and 2100 South based on information received from an anonymous tip.

Inside, officers found a meth lab that they said may have recently been active, a gram of methamphetamine and some ephedrine, said Salt Lake City police detective Jeff Bedard.

A "boxed-up clandestine lab" was found in the house, according to jail documents, "including numerous beakers, tubes and other precursors."

Investigators believe the man was also selling drugs as they found "distributable amounts of methamphetamine" in packaging along with spoons and scales, according to jail records.

The man was "living with and exposing" his 71-year-old mother to meth, jail documents stated. The health department closed the house to occupancy, Bedard said.

Paul Dodge, 42, was arrested and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of having a meth lab, a first-degree felony; three counts of drug possession, all second-degree felonies; and elderly endangerment. There were other people inside the house at the time, Bedard said.

At least one additional arrest was pending Tuesday, he said.
