PROVO A 21-year-old Provo man was arrested Saturday morning after a Utah County sheriff's deputy observed a young girl who was not wearing pants sitting in the back seat of the man's vehicle, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in 4th District Court.
The man's car was parked on a roadway near Squaw Peak Road in Provo Canyon.
After the girl spoke with the deputy, it was determined she was a 13-year-old runaway from Orem. She told police the man had intercourse with her while parked at that location, the report said.
The man told officers that "the two of them had hugged and kissed, but no other sexual contact had happened," according to the affidavit.
The man was booked into the Utah County Jail for investigation of rape of a child and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He is scheduled to make an initial appearance in 4th District Court on April 14.
