Utah Flash: Notebook

OREM — The Utah Flash finished a successful road trip with a 107-101 win over the Anaheim Arsenal on Friday and a 103-92 win over the Bakersfield Jam on Saturday to improve their record to 23-24 with three games to go.

"They were terrific wins," Flash general manager David Fredman said. "It's the first time all year that we've won three in a row. I think our players are maturing."

RECALLED, REASSIGNED: The Boston Celtics recalled guard Gabe Pruitt from the Flash on Sunday. He was originally going to be recalled last week, but he convinced the Celtics to let him stay with Utah for the road games in California, which paid dividends when the Flash won both.

It was the third time Pruitt has been recalled this season, and because of NBA rules, it will be his last. Pruitt averaged 18.6 points, 3.9 assists and 2.2 steals in 18 games with Utah.

The Flash hope to fill the void left by Pruitt's departure with guard Morris Almond, who was reassigned to the Flash from the Utah Jazz on Monday. Almond leads the NBA Development League in scoring at 25 points a game and was just voted to the All-D-League Third Team.

"If you look at the whole body of what he's done, you'd think he'd be on the first team," Flash coach Brad Jones said. "We can't vote for our own players, but I would have voted for him for MVP."

UPCOMING ACTION: The Flash will close their season at home with three games this week — against Idaho (tonight), Iowa (Friday) and Los Angeles (Saturday). All three games will start at 7 p.m. at the McKay Center.

PLAYOFF PICTURE: The Flash's playoff chances continue to look grim. Despite getting some help from the Tulsa 66ers, who have lost four straight games, the Colorado 14ers have won three straight to pass Tulsa.

The tiebreakers for the playoffs are, in order, head-to-head record, winning percentage against teams over .500 and scoring differential. The Flash went 1-1 against both Colorado and Tulsa, so the next tiebreakers would be used.

In the event of a tie, the Flash would lose the second tiebreaker to Tulsa, as there is no way to catch the 66ers in record against winning teams.

The Flash could tie Colorado and have a nearly identical winning percentage against teams over .500, but they would almost certainly lose the final tiebreaker, as Colorado has outscored its opponents by 223 points, while the Flash have outscored their opponents by just 41.
