Dozens of leaders called to LDS posts
• Elder Eduardo Gavarret, 51, has served as a mission president in Paraguay and as an Area Seventy. He is general manager of a pharmaceutical company in Peru. Born in Minas, Lavalleja, Uruguay, he is married to Norma Beatriz Gorgoroso. They have three children.
• Elder Carlos A. Godoy, 47, joined the church in 1977 and has served as a mission president in Brazil and as an Area Seventy. He was born in Porto Alegre, Brazil, and spent his career as a human resources manager before starting his own company. He and his wife, Munica Soares Brandao, are the parents of four children.
• Elder James J. Hamula, 50, was previously a mission president and had worked as an attorney in Arizona. At the time of his call, he was serving as an Area Seventy in the North America Southwest Area. Born in Long Beach, Calif., he married Joyce Anderson, and they are the parents of six children.
• Elder Kevin W. Pearson, 50, was serving as president of the Washington Tacoma Mission and had worked as CEO of a biomedical company. Born in Salt Lake City, he married June Langeland. They are the parents of six children.
• Elder Rafael E. Pino, 52, joined the church in 1972 and was an Area Seventy in the South America North Area. He has been employed by the church as a regional manager for temporal affairs and served as a mission president. Born in Valencia, Venezuela, he married Patricia Monica Villa Dassler. They are the parents of three children.
• Elder Gary E. Stevenson, 52, has been a mission president in Japan and was serving as a Sunday School teacher at the time of his call. He is the COO of a health and fitness equipment company. Born in Ogden, he married Lesa Jean Higley. They are the parents of four children.
• Elder Jose A. Teixeira, 47, was serving as president of the Brazil Sao Paulo South Mission and had been an Area Seventy. Before his call as a mission president, he was an international controller for the church. Born in Vila Real, Portugal, he married Maria Filomena Lopes Teles Grilo. They are the parents of three children.
