Utah Utes football: Inside Utes' spring camp

PLAYERS ON THE RISE: Utah coach Kyle Whittingham said that quarterback Corbin Louks had a nice day. The sophomore completed 11-of-16 passes for 66 yards in Saturday's scrimmage. He also rushed for 39 yards on eight carries. The defensive secondary, as a whole, also drew praise from Whittingham.

INJURY REPORT: Junior left tackle Zane Beadles tweaked his knee on the first play of the scrimmage but later returned to action. Junior defensive back Damilyn Tanner injured his left elbow and is being evaluated.

NOTES: Former Utes Paul Soliai and Jason Kaufusi were among those in attendance at the scrimmage — as were approximately 70 prospects and many of their parents and coaches. ... The Utes have seven spring practices remaining. The next session is scheduled for Tuesday from 3-5 p.m. at the practice fields west of the Smith Center. All spring practices and scrimmages are open to the public. ... Utah's next scrimmage is set for this Saturday from 9-11 a.m. at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
