Coal truck driver dies after collision with gravel truck

The driver of a coal truck that collided with a gravel truck in central Utah has died.

Utah Highway Patrol trooper Todd Johnson says 53-year-old Arsenio Velasquez died Thursday morning at the University of Utah's Burn Center. He survived the night following the crash, but later succumbed to injuries sustained during the crash.

Velasquez was driving south Wednesday on State Route 10 when the gravel truck turned left off of State Route 122. The trucks collided, and the coal truck caught fire. Velasquez was pinned inside while the cab burned.

The gravel truck driver, Darwin Hunt, was treated for moderate injuries and released from a Price hospital.
