PROVO — A trial date has been set for a man accused of raping a 15-year-old neighbor girl.

Robert Bosserman, 26, will go on trial April 23-24. He is accused of raping a teenage girl after breaking into her home. Bosserman was arrested March 2.

Bosserman entered a not guilty plea Tuesday in 4th District Court.

Prosecutor Doug Finch originally asked the judge to grant him more time. He was concerned about being able to get DNA results from the state's lab in time for a trial.

Although employees promised to do their best, he said, it's highly unlikely he would get the DNA information within a month, as requested by Bosserman's attorneys.

Defense attorney Matthew Howell said his client has already been in custody for a month now and wants a speedy trial.

Judge Steven Hansen said the U.S. Constitution allows for him to extend the trial with good cause, but didn't believe two or three months was appropriate.
