The Ogden Branch NAACP plans to use its annual Freedom Fund Banquet and Awards Program to reflect on the life of the late civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the unfinished legacy of equality in health and wellness.

Winston Wilkinson, director for the Office of Civil Rights in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, will be the keynote speaker at the banquet. The event will commemorate the 40th anniversary of the April 4, 1968, assassination of King, who was shot at age 39 while standing on a motel balcony in Memphis, Tenn.

The event will be at 6:30 p.m. April 5 at the Weber State University Union Building. Tickets are $40, or $25 for senior citizens and youths. For more information, call 801-393-0924.
