I went to my first-ever caucus meeting last Tuesday. I had high hopes about getting involved and seeing how things work. I was sorely disillusioned about this process. I left my caucus dismayed and disgusted. We were asked to vote for delegates that we don't know, nor do we know their views on the candidates. When I asked if the delegates would ask their precinct members who to vote for, I was shocked to learn that's not how it works. The delegates get to choose on their own who they think is the best candidate. I cannot believe this is how we choose who is going to be on the ballot. The caucus system is not representative of its citizens. Other states don't use them why do we? It's time to get rid of caucuses and use a system that involves and represents everyone.
