ST. GEORGE Dixie State College President Lee G. Caldwell announced today that he is leaving his position, effective immediately.
"I deeply appreciate the dedication and quality of the Dixie State College faculty, staff and trustees, and I leave behind a strong institution," Caldwell said. "The inspiring thing about this institution is that it has been built on a foundation of local sacrifice and local contributions, including the very land the campus is on."
Caldwell said he is leaving to pursue other opportunities.
The Board of Regents is scheduled to meet this afternoon to discuss the announcement and plans to replace Caldwell during the interim while they search for a new president for the institution.
