WEST VALLEY CITY — City officials in West Valley City helped further Salt Lake County's goal to plant 1 million trees in the county by 2017 by planting eight new trees at City Hall on Tuesday.

The city planted eight Malus Prairie Fire trees on the east side of City Hall to replace trees removed last year by Rocky Mountain Power.

The trees were originally removed because they interfered with power lines. The new trees will not disturb the lines.
