A Riverton man who was shot after police say he broke into a Salt Lake home and assaulted a woman earlier this month is facing multiple felony charges.
The 18-year-old man entered a home near 3900 South and 700 West on March 15 and sexually assaulted a woman while she slept, according to charges filed Tuesday in 3rd District Court.
The man grabbed the woman's face, cutting her mouth and fondled her breasts, court documents state. The woman's boyfriend awoke and shot the intruder, who broke through a window and fled the apartment, police wrote. The man was shot in his abdomen but was in stable condition when police arrested him after the incident.
The man faces a second-degree felony charge of burglary, a second-degree felony charge of forcible sexual abuse, a class A misdemeanor criminal mischief charge and a class B misdemeanor assault charge.
