A woman was struck and killed while crossing the street in Salt Lake City Tuesday morning.
Manuela Mareno-Gutierez, 60, had just stepped off a UTA bus with her husband near 1400 West and 1000 North about 6:45 a.m. She started crossing the street when she was hit by a vehicle, said Salt Lake police detective Jared Wihongi. Her husband was not injured.
There was no crosswalk where Mareno-Guitierez was crossing and no indication the driver was speeding or was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, Wihongi said.
There were no pending charges against the driver as of Tuesday morning, he said.
