Question: Whatever happened to Jane Pauley? Her husband, Garry Trudeau, is still active doing Doonesbury, but we haven't seen Jane in ages. She was such a real person and a complete delight to her public. We miss her.

Answer: Pauley keeps busy. She is on the leadership board of the McGovern Institute for Brain Research at MIT and the ambassadors council of the Freedom From Hunger organization. She also chairs the advisory board of the Children's Health Fund, an organization co-founded by singer Paul Simon, which helps provide health care to medically underserved children.

In November 2007, she received the annual Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Journalism from the Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University.

Question: When will "The 4400," "Burn Notice" and "The Dead Zone" be back?

Answer: "Burn Notice" is due back this summer. "The Dead Zone" and "The 4400" have been canceled, although fans of "The 4400" are lobbying for more episodes.

Question: I would like to know if "Shark," "Women's Murder Club" and "Rules of Engagement" are on hiatus or canceled, or if they will be coming back on the air sometime soon.

Answer: "Rules of Engagement" will have new episodes beginning April 14. "Shark" is due back with new episodes but, at this writing, CBS has not set a return date. New telecasts of "Women's Murder Club" have not been announced, although there have been reports that new episodes are being made.

Question: Will the sixth season of "The Shield" be available on DVD before the seventh season begins in April?

Answer: According to the folks at TV Shows on DVD (www.tvshowsondvd.com) there's no set date for the sixth season because there's no air date right now for the seventh. Planned for April, the seventh and final season has been delayed because of FX schedule shuffling due to the now-over writers strike. It might return in September, but that's not official. Still, it appears the DVD release will be before the seventh season airs.
