LOGAN (AP) A Logan teenager has died after hitting a tree while skiing at Beaver Mountain.
Cache County Sheriff's Lt. Chad Jensen says Jocelyn Garlick was moving quickly down the resort's D-Street run on Saturday when she turned around to talk to a friend and hit the tree. She was wearing a helmet but was seriously injured. Emergency medical personnel tried to treat her injuries on the scene for about 45 minutes but were unsuccessful.
When Life Flight arrived, doctors declared that Garlick could not be revived.
It was the first of two skiing deaths over the weekend. On Sunday, a Pennsylvania man, 63, hit a tree at The Canyons. The accident occurred about 11:30 a.m. near the Tombstone lift area and temporarily closed a portion of the resort.
The man's name has not yet been released.
