SPANISH FORK Investigators are still trying to isolate the cause of a blaze that started Friday afternoon in a house along U.S. 6.
Capt. Vern Jackson of Spanish Fork Fire Department said a neighbor noticed flames and smoke curling out of the house at 3752 East on U.S. 6 around 2 p.m. Firefighters responded and contained the blaze in half an hour.
No one was in the home at the time, Jackson said, and most of the damage was interior. One of the residents had a parakeet that was inside at the time of the fire that has not been found yet, he added.
Investigators believe the fire started between the first and second floors, Jackson said, and they do not suspect arson at this time.
