MOAB A man was killed in a construction accident when a structural beam landed on his head.
Grand County sheriff's deputies said the accident happened Wednesday night as Ulrich (Rick) Winkler, 57, was working at a home he was building. Deputies said Winkler was preparing to put a structural beam in a wall pocket, when he lost his footing and fell.
"Rick had no time to get out of the way of the large heavy beam," the Grand County Sheriff's Office said in a statement Thursday.
Winkler was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
